X-Men vs. Avengers and Super Villains

Let's compare these two organizations...

X-Men obviously represent mutants and are kind of Goth (European style not white trash American... Sorry). There are fundamental characters that have stuck with the team for whatever reason. My favorite is Cable because to me he is so enlightened... Such a super cool guy and also a total bad ass too. Being a mutant is not always a fun thing - many are outcasts. Together as a team they can overcome anything - even when the whole world wants to eradicate them.

Avengers on the other hand have always had super star status and are the media darlings (within the Marvel universe). Their members constantly come and go. My favorite era of the Avengers was back in the early 70s... They had Captain America, Antman, Wasp, Thor, Quicksilver, Hawkeye and Scarlet Witch plus Hercules and Vision... At that time it was all of the original members except for the Hulk. I loved the relationship between the Vision and Scarlet Witch... An android dating and alpha level Psyker.

Super villains such as Kang the Conqueror, Thanos and Apocalypse - they unto themselves can fight all of the X-Men or Avengers all by themselves and we have to respect that level of epic power... But in the end they always lose, every time—epic karma. There will always be those epic individuals that can rise to the challenge and kick ass despite the odds no matter how great or unbelievable.

There are also the misunderstood anti-heroes such as Prince Namor and Magneto. Even Lex Luthor can be a hero if he really wants to be... They must make the sacrifice.

To me the moral of this story is if you're part of something greater than yourself then cherish it. Sometimes you only get one shot and it could easily be one of the greatest thing in your life... Ever. Super villains will come and go but your true friends will always be there for you. It's all about not putting yourself first. Always be there for your friends.
